ABOUT ME

KEVIN PETERNEL
Kevin Peternel | CHRO & Partner
Founded TPCHR in November 2010

Over the last 15 years, it’s been a great privilege to connect with clients as a business owner and an HR consultant.  Helping to shape TPCHR since 2010, working along such fun, dedicated and hard-working HR professionals has been the most significant contribution in my working career.

Reflecting back, I was fortunate to be raised in a strong family led by blue-collar parents in a blue-collar neighborhood.  My parents, who had limited means to stretch to five children, sacrificed everything to provide the best education for their family.  They served as the best role models for thriving outside the home: having clear priorities, being dedicated, working hard and being grateful for what you have in life.

To have spending money as a kid and ultimately help fund college (and college-aged activities), I was able to work at the age of 10 on my brother’s paper route.  I took over the route and worked as a golf caddy during summers for several years before I turned 16.  At 16, I worked at two homes for the elderly at one time throughout high school.  When in college, I worked at one of the homes and on the grounds of our local parish during the summer and as a gym supervisor during the school year.  Sports and sportsmanship were always an integral part of my upbringing from grade school through college.

Beyond college, I worked for three corporate employers.  I was always afforded the opportunity to learn and grow and have corporate business experiences beyond HR (manufacturing management, customer relations, product liability, IT, marketing, etc.).  I also had the opportunity to start-up more than one company, again wearing many “hats”, learning and growing.

On the personal side, I continue to be blessed in marriage to my college sweetheart, Lisa since 1987.  She recently retired after working for 32 years in the childcare industry, having shaped so many young people’s lives.  The two of us have been able to stay in the same home in Janesville for over 25 years.

Interests outside of work include more work-related things (I am a continuous learner), spending time (not shopping) with my wife, and keeping up on current events/technology.  I also enjoy sous vide cooking and machine embroidery.
